La Pièce, a fragment of Paris on the wrist
It is in the workshops of the iconic Hôtel de la Monnaie, in the heart of Paris, that the dials of the limited-edition La Pièce collection take shape. Two variations are struck there using the minting technique, usually reserved for coins. Here, everything is created from a single block: the material is worked with exceptional precision. A world first, achieved in the heart of the last major mint still operating in the capital.
Under the force of the striking process, the metal is transformed. It is hollowed, raised, and stretched. Volumes gradually emerge, sculpting the light and revealing a play of subtle reliefs. The hour markers, textures, and motifs are no longer simply applied but emerge directly from the material. Struck and then meticulously engraved, the dial becomes a metallic landscape where bas-reliefs and surface effects interact with the light.
The whole is housed in a 39mm diameter case whose polished and brushed surfaces, so characteristic of Beaubleu, capture the light and accentuate every curve. At 3 o'clock, the hidden crown is discreetly integrated into the case, allowing the dial to take center stage in perfect symmetry.
La Pièce collection is available in two variations, each limited to 888 pieces per color. Two interpretations that explore the dial's material through decidedly different approaches. Where one plays with light and depth, the other highlights the purity of the volumes and the precision of the striking.
Series No. 1
Conceived as a sculpted block of layered material, “La Pièce No.1” unfolds through a composition of non concentric circles, evoking the path of light from sunrise to sunset.
Series No. 2
As if carved from a single block of steel, “La Pièce No.2” reveals a rare feat to the trained eye: polished inner surfaces and hour markers cut directly into the metal itself. A tour de force never before achieved in watchmaking for a monobloc dial.
Floating second
The floating second hand rotates weightlessly around the dial, with this elusive Je-ne-sais-quoi. It marks time and brings a very special touch of magic to the whole.
The icing on the cake
Because we love to understand what's going on around our wrists, this collection is not only struck in Paris. It is also powered by the FE caliber from France Ebauches, a French-made automatic movement, visible through the open case back.
