La Pièce - Final Look

Behind the scenes at the Beaubleu Workshops are being revealed through the Production Journey. A series of articles created to explain the manufacturing stages of Beaubleu watches and the challenges they pose.

After the dials, hands, cases, and assembly, the watch finally seems finished. But only in appearance. Before leaving the workshop, each Beaubleu creation undergoes a final series of checks where nothing is left to chance.

The Ultimate Test

A watch can function perfectly while concealing a slight imbalance. To the naked eye, everything appears in order. The timing machine, however, sometimes tell a different story.

Using this instrument, watchmakers analyse the sounds produced by the escapement to evaluate the movement's performance. Frequency, balance wheel amplitude, beat error, and rate deviation are used to measure its stability and precision.

Then comes the adjustment. Just a few seconds gained or lost per day can be enough to alter its overall behaviour. Every adjustment seeks to strike the right balance between precision, reliability and consistency.

Nothing Gets Through

Once the case is closed, the watch is placed in an airtight chamber where different pressure variations are applied to check its water resistance.

The slightest defect in the crown, case back, or gaskets could compromise the movement's protection against moisture or dust. The La Pièce models are thus validated for a resistance of 5 ATM (50 meters), suitable for daily use.

Needless to say, a watch is also made to be worn.

The Watchmaker's Eye

The final checks are no longer carried out with instruments, but simply by eye.

Under different lighting, watchmakers inspect each watch with a loupe. The case, dial, hands, indexes, and finishes are examined one last time. Reflections immediately reveal the slightest irregularity. As often, it's all about the details.

It is only after this ultimate validation that the certificate of authenticity is signed.

The Departure

It is only after these final checks that the watch finally leaves the workshop. It is then manually wound, placed in its case, and accompanied by its certificate of authenticity and its Ambassador card.

Until now, every intervention had one goal: to prepare the watch to fulfill its role. From now on, it no longer belongs to the workshop.
